Welp, this is it. The college football season is over, and two teams have closed up shop in the Big 12. This will be Texas A&M and Missouri’s last time to make an appearance in the Big 12 Power Rankings. After 14 weeks of the regular season and eight bowl games (the Big 12 went 6-2), here’s how the league sits. 1. Oklahoma State (12-1, beat Stanford, 41-38 in overtime): The Cowboys needed some help from Stanford’s kicker to get its BCS win, but their spot atop the Big 12 was never at stake.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Arkansas punt returner Joe Adams made one quick cut through a wall of Kansas State defenders and sprinted toward the sideline before turning upfield. Around 40 or so yards later, Adams crossed the goal line and emphatically slammed the ball into the Cowboys Stadium turf. The Hogs were rolling. They led by double digits. The red half of the 80,956 in attendance was going hog wild. All that, and Arkansas’ offense hadn’t even recorded a first down yet on the way to its 29-16 victory over the Wildcats in Friday night’s AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.

The Cotton Bowl’s growth continues. Two years ago, it moved from its namesake stadium to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Last year, it moved to primetime, kicking off nearly a week after its usual date and playing under the lights in JerryWorld. Now, it’s announced plans to stay in primetime for 2013. It will be played on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013. It’s a good call for a bowl with clear BCS aspirations. The past two years have been huge for the bowl.

Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon won the Biletnikoff Award on Thursday night for the second consecutive year during “The Home Depot College Football Awards” show. The Cowboys star becomes the second player in college football history to repeat as the Biletnikoff winner, after Texas Tech’s Michael Crabtree in 2007 and 2008. He’s already the second Big 12 player to take home an award tonight, after Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III won the Davey O’Brien Award.

Texas scheduled a one-time, non-conference football game with UCLA recently to be played at Cowboys Stadium in 2014, but the matchup was arranged by ESPN and the Longhorns were not trying to avoid a non-conference date with Texas A&M, athletic director DeLoss Dodds told the American-Statesman on Monday.

Texas and UCLA will play at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in 2014, the school announced. The two schools just wrapped up a home-and-home in 2010 and 2011. Texas won this year’s game, 49-20, in the Rose Bowl. UCLA beat Texas in Austin last season, 34-12. By my count, this would only be the second time Texas has ever played in Cowboys Stadium, which is a bit surprising. The Longhorns won the Big 12 title and clinched a spot in the national title game in 2009 by beating Nebraska on a last-second field goal in the 2009 Big 12 Championship.
