As we welcome Texas A&M to the league, the offseason spotlight shines on the Aggies: Spotlight: Running back Christine Michael, 5-foot-11, 213 pounds, rising senior 2011 summary: Michael teamed with Cyrus Gray to give the Aggies one of the best one-two punches in the country at running back. Michael rushed for 899 yards on 149 carries. He scored nine touchdowns and averaged 6 yards per carry. He had his season cut short when he tore his ACL against Oklahoma on Nov.

Behind the box scores: Saturday edition

A scan of the box scores always reveals statistical oddities and under-the-radar performances. Here are some we found from Saturday’s games: Kansas 69, Texas 66 Texas guard J’Covan Brown shot 7-of-26 (27 percent) from the field after going 8-of-28 (29 percent) in his previous outing. This season, 18 different players have taken at least 26 shots in a game, but Brown is the first to do it twice. He’s also had the two worst shooting performances of those players.

A scan of the college basketball box scores each night guarantees all kinds of fun oddities. Here are a few we found from Saturday’s games: Texas A&M 67, Texas Tech 54 Texas Tech’s starters combined to make just three field goals Saturday, matching the lowest total by any team’s starting lineup in a game this season. Of the three teams to do it, TTU’s starters played the most combined minutes (118). Cincinnati 82, Villanova 78 Maalik Wayns scored 39 points, collected 13 rebounds and handed out 6 assists in the loss.
