National signing day has come and gone, and as with any game week, we’ll provide a proper wrap-up of the events of the week. Time to hand out a few superlatives. Top class: Texas The Longhorns did what the Longhorns do once again: Dominate a state with a talent pool as rich as any in America. The flagship school in the state of Texas reeled in 12 ESPNU 150 signees, seven more than any school in the Big 12, and finished the day at No. 3 in ESPN Recruiting’s class rankings, the only Big 12 team in the top five.

Todd Graham’s first few weeks on the job at Arizona State have been about fences: Building them. Mending them. Figuring out how to put a “de” in front of them. Graham, in essence, has three No. 1 priorities. In the immediate future, his first No. 1 priority has been building a fence around Phoenix to keep the region’s top talent at home, then venturing out into the rest of the state before dipping the fiery pitchfork into California, Texas and somewhat into Florida.

All things considered, this was a rough start to the week for Iowa State forward Royce White. His much-improved, NCAA tourney-bid-hunting team had a big game at Texas Tuesday, and it nearly pulled off a road win. But “nearly” is the operative word. Iowa State fell 62-55 in Austin, as White went 1-of-7 from the free-throw line. Of course, White is hardly the reason why the Cyclones lost. He scored 15 points on 7-of-16 from the field, grabbed 15 rebounds, dished five assists and even added two steals and a block.

Time to take a look at recruiting needs for some selected non-AQ schools. Boise State Running back. With Doug Martin and D.J. Harper gone, there is no question the Broncos need some quality players at this position to not only play but add depth. This was already one that had depth issues because of injuries this season — which is why a walk-on running back had the ball late in the game against TCU. Boise State has two commitments from quality prep players in Devan Demas and Jack Fields, both out of Texas.
